Rationale
Through this course, students will develop practical skills based on principles, processes and patterns in web design, development and marketing, to be able to design customer-centred websites, track their performance with web analytics and optimise them based on the analysis. These acquired competencies will empower students to effectively harness digital resources, positioning themselves as valuable assets within the dynamic and competitive labour market.
The course aims to provide an overview of Web Marketing and hands-on experience in LAMP hosting (cPanel) including obtaining a free hosting plan, provisioning a website, remote Content Management System (CMS) with FTP and provisioning MySQL database.
Learning Outcomes
At the end of the course, students will be expected to:
(i) Describe fundamental concepts of Web Marketing and their components.
(ii) Apply managed hosting to create a website.
(iii) Construct an effective customer-centred website and track performance.
(iv) Examine Website optimisation.
(v) Critically explore Search Engine optimisation.
