Rationale


This course helps to develop an understanding of the usefulness of research in business administration and management, familiarise students with the various techniques needed to obtain data for given research problems, aims and objectives, and supply knowledge about data analysis and interpretation into useful information for making decisions and providing recommendations in the future managerial roles.
The aim of this course is to empower students to critically review a range of research methodologies and methods of providing management information for the purpose of decision-making.

Learning Outcomes


At the end of the course, students will be expected to:
(i)    Identify a suitable area and issue related to business and conduct a literature review.
(ii)   Compose a research question effectively and develop a research purpose following the guidelines of Qualitative and Quantitative study.
(iii)  Identify the main differences between qualitative and quantitative methods for data collection on research and effectively use these.
(iv)  Select a sampling method to address a proposed research question, while meticulously attending to the ethical considerations related to business research.
(v)   Discuss the findings of the research objectives, produce a report on the findings and present the results of the data analysis.
