Background Rationale

This course will help you to develop a range of higher-level research skills. It will cover such areas as research methodology, research questions, the literature review, presentation skills, and academic writing. It will support you in the skills you need to produce a sustained research project.

Learning Outcomes

On successfully completing the module students will be able to:
1. Develop complex research projects independently
2.Critically appraise the structure, argumentation and quality of a thesis, and to assess the methodological approaches employed
3. Articulate relevant and specific research questions and to identify appropriate research methods
4. Create a formal research proposal in a specific disciplinary area
