This Module provides students with the application of theory, knowledge, and practice to develop software systems that satisfy the requirements of users and customers in an effective and efficient way. Students will also learn about software quality assurance for ensuring a disciplined, controlled approach to software evolution and reuse

 

Module Aim


The aim of this module is to provide students with a thorough understanding of mobile technology and how the mobile communication infrastructure has evolved over time. It also aims to provide a comprehensive insight into developing applications running on mobile devices and demonstrate programming skills for managing tasks on mobile devices.

 

Module Learning Outcomes


Upon completion of this module, the student should be able to:
1.    Apply data communicating methods and networking protocols for wireless and mobile environments.
2.    Describe and compare various wireless communication protocols, including wireless modulation techniques, cellular phone protocols (GSM, CDMA), and mobile phone network technologies.
3.    Explain frequencies for radio transmission.
4.    Describe the working of antennas and signal propagation.
5.    Describe the Transmission Medium Access Control.
6.    Analyse the requirements of Mobile programming environment.
7.    Write mobile phone applications.
8.    Analyse security issues of mobile and wireless computing systems.
