Aim of the module
Doctoral Dissertation Examination aims to provide students with the opportunity to compile their doctoral thesis into a cohesive and comprehensive piece of academic work and to engage at the highest intellectual level to defend their dissertation.
Learning Outcomes
By the end of the module, students should have demonstrated ability to:
1. Create new knowledge, through original research or other advanced scholarship, of a quality to satisfy peer review, extend the forefront of the discipline, and merit publication.
2. Interpret new knowledge, through original research or other advanced scholarship, of a quality to satisfy peer review, extend the forefront of the discipline, and merit publication.
3. Acquire a substantial body of knowledge that is at the forefront of an academic discipline or area of professional practice.
4. Implement a project that they have conceptualised and designed for the generation of new knowledge, applications or understanding at the forefront of the discipline, and to adjust the project design in the light of unforeseen problems.
5. Apply appropriate techniques for research and advanced academic enquiry.
