Rationale
Practical research is important as it progresses after the theory course Research Methodology. It is at this point that the student begins to consider the unresolved situations that then evoke questions such as: Why? What is the cause of this? What does it all mean? It is through such questions that research begins. Students are expected to plan their research using the knowledge acquired during Research Methodology course. Research is a process of establishing the truth, a process through which attempt to achieve scientifically and with the support of data, the answer to a question, the resolution of a problem or a greater understanding of a phenomenon. The solution is expected to add new knowledge to the existing body of knowledge or contribute to current debates in the particular field.  Undertaking actual research is crucial to this course as the students are expected to demonstrate a number of central skills such as data collecting skills, interpersonal skills, critical analytical skills, problem solving skills, extensive reading skills networking skills and many more. The contribution of original research that is conducted by the students is important to the university, community and the nation as a whole as it is able to provide answers to a question, the resolution of a problem or a greater understanding of a phenomenon.

Learning Outcomes
At the end of the course students will be expected to:

i.    Apply research skills gained.
ii.    Analyse appropriate collected data to answer a question, resolve a problem or gain greater understanding of a phenomenon.
iii.    Report the research findings.
iv.    Utilise skills in the conduct of further research.
