Rationale
The aim of this course is to instill in potential teachers the importance of using digital technologies for teaching and learning in order to facilitate learning in this technological age. Teacher’s knowledge and skill in the use of digital technologies will help students to understand the importance of the course. This course provides an essential introduction to the use of digital technologies to support both teaching and learning in a variety of educational contexts. Students will engage with a range of technologies and critically consider how to effectively integrate these technologies in their teaching in order to support the diverse needs of students. Student centeredness is crucial in this course and hence will enable a hands-on approach. One of the barriers is the issue of affordability of the tools/gadget (smart phones, tablets, laptops, computers etc) to use, at individual level, school level and community. This could afford accessibility and continued practice of the skills learnt.
