Rationale
Children have the capacity and propensity to observe, explore and discover the world. Their curiosity is unstoppable and they enjoy exploring the world. These basic abilities and skills are the foundation for learning science and should be encouraged and supported as much as possible. This, can foster the learning of science and engineering practices at an early age. The course aims to instill in the potential teachers’ the skills to foster the learning of science in students by engaging them in scientific practices and developing understanding at a conceptual level.
Learning Outcomes
At the end of the course students will be expected to:
i. Explain the role of positive attitudes towards science and its teaching in Pre-Primary school and analyse the ways to deepen these attitudes so as to feel greater enthusiasm and confidence.
ii. Analyse basic concepts of content (electricity, light and colours, mirrors, images, symmetry) and Mechanisms of Physicists Science through exploratory exercises and the use of new technologies.
iii. Defend and support the results of their investigations with the use of data.
iv. Use technology as a research tool in Physics.
