Description:

Rationale


Due to globalisation and the rapid expansion of international businesses, projects require a specific set of tools and techniques in order to be planned, monitored and adapted to environmental, socio-economic, cultural and political changes. Students will receive an insight to the application of project management at an international level, acquiring the necessary knowledge and competencies for more efficient management of complex and bigger projects in both the local and international level. The course will analyse the risks and challenges of project management in multinational companies and will enable students to understand the uncertainty of the global business market. It will also encourage students to develop skills of conflict resolution and acquire the relevant tools for time, cost and quality management. Additionally, students will explore the significance of implementing digital technology within projects.

Learning Outcomes


At the end of the course students will be expected to:
(i)    Apply key theories, strategies and techniques in international project management.
(ii)   Describe the ways to deal with critical issues and team management in a multi-cultural environment.
(iii)  Apply principles of life-cycle methodology to international programme and project management.
(iv)  Define the roles and responsibilities of key team members.
(v)   Apply relevant knowledge and creativity for appropriate governance in international project management.
(vi)  Discuss project plans, costs, risks and benefits in a professional manner.
(vii) Suggest solutions to issues related to ethics, gender and cross-cultural collaboration.
(viii)Describe different ways of studying international projects.
(ix)  Evaluate contemporary project management theory.
(x)   Evaluate a business case to make informed decisions.
(xi)  Implement current and emerging technologies for successful communication among teams and stakeholders and more optimised operations and services.
(xii) Use of project management software to develop a project in an international environment.
