Description:

Rationale


The course studies the practice of Human Resource Management at an international level. Its main objective is to expose students to the HR practices within international organisations and equip them with the relevant key concepts, terminologies and theories of the international HRM field. It also encourages an in-depth examination of the principles underlying the internationalisation of businesses and therefore an understanding of the key features of the international Human Resource Management environment. By focusing on policies, programmes and practices, the course also analyses their critical impact on the firm’s success.

Learning outcomes


At the end of the course students will be expected to:

(i)    Describe the process of managing human resources in international organisations.
(ii)   Outline the key concepts relevant to HRM and provide definition of a number of business terms used in the field.
(iii)  Explain the context that shapes international HRM.
(iv)  Identify key issues and practices pertaining to HRM functions at an international level.
(v)   Examine the strategies and structures of international organisations, as well, the business culture and regulatory environment of various countries.
(vi)  Evaluate current policies related and formulate new ones / action plans as per their analysis of strengths, gabs and needs of international HR legal framework.
(vii) List different culture differences that affect HRM.
